In an interview with The Modern Materialist, the designer laments that current designs often “engage people on a brain level” rather than “at the heart level.” This lighting, however, would certainly stop the hearts of many a dinner guest!

Reach out and touch someone with gestural interconnectivity! San Francisco’s Knoend and Pocobor make this happen through a wireless sculpture called ‘Passage for Peace’ – yet another outstanding exhibit at Milan’s Salone Satellite 2009.

Placed in two cities, the glass and metal columns allow people to “physically see, hear, and feel someone else across the world,” says Ivy Chuang of Knoend.

Each column is set to play a specific octave and when harmonious chords play, light moves through all 12 columns – in both cities!

Another gem from the Salone Satellite 2009 – the coveted space for young talent at the Milan Design Week. Giorgio Biscaro’s Metamerick Table is the ultimate customizable dining table. The design’s bold geometry and color combinations make the table extraordinary. Its modularity takes it a step further. You choose: straight or bendy! Rumor has it, we may find this trapezoidal masterpiece available soon in colorful, recycled finishes.
